Sanjay Upadhyay et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a novel morphology of NiO composed of nanorods encapsulated with nanosheets through optimized hydrothermal process. The sample exhibits a high specific capacitance of 296 F/g at a current density of 5 A/g. A symmetric supercapacitor cell with a promising capacity of 120 F/g, 5 A/g has been fabricated. Furthermore, a competitive energy density value of 17 Wh/kg at 2500 W/kg of power density has been achieved. The sample also shows an overpotential of 1.96 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) at a current density of 10 mA/cm(2) with a Tafel slope of 109.2 mV/dec. This work is important for further investigation into the specific capacity and OER of NiO-based electrode materials.

Flexible Supercapacitors Based on Stretchable Conducting Polymer Electrodes

Wen Wang et al.

Summary: Supercapacitors, known for their high power density, fast charging and discharging speeds, and long service life, are widely used in various fields. However, the integration of supercapacitors in flexible electronics faces challenges regarding extensibility, bending stability, and operability. To address these challenges, we deposited thiophene and 3-methylthiophene on patterned 304 stainless steel through electropolymerization to prepare stretchable conducting polymer electrodes. Moreover, the cycling stability of the electrodes was improved by protecting them with a poly(vinyl alcohol)/sulfuric acid gel electrolyte. The assembled flexible supercapacitors exhibited 93% stability even after 10,000 cycles of strain, highlighting their potential applications in flexible electronics.
