Potential of New Sustainable Green Geopolymer Metal Composite (GGMC) Material as Mould Insert for Rapid Tooling (RT) in Injection Moulding Process

Allice Tan Mun Yin et al.

Summary: The investigation of using metal epoxy composite (MEC) for mould inserts in the injection moulding process is gaining popularity. Recycling metal waste from industries and workshops must be investigated to achieve zero emissions and conserve natural resources. Utilising metal scrap for rapid tooling (RT) in the injection moulding industry is a potentially viable approach. Meanwhile, geopolymer materials created from industrial scrap can offer desired qualities for RT applications, such as high temperature endurance. This research aims to generate a new sustainable material by integrating metals in green geopolymer metal composite (GGMC) mould inserts for RT in the injection moulding process, with the potential to reduce costs and impact environmental preservation.

Dispersion mechanism-induced variations in microstructural and mechanical behavior of CNT-reinforced aluminum nanocomposites

Kemal Dogan et al.

Summary: The combination of powder metallurgy and ball milling method is considered advantageous for producing multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-reinforced aluminum matrix composites. Different milling times were found to affect the structural, morphological, and crystallographic properties of the composites, with longer milling times resulting in smaller particle size and more uniform dispersion of CNTs. The resulting composites showed increased hardness, attributed to various strengthening effects, but density results varied depending on the milling time.

Improved de/re-hydrogenation properties of MgH2 catalyzed by graphene templated Ti-Ni-Fe nanoparticles

Pawan K. Soni et al.

Summary: Graphene templated Ti-Ni-Fe nanoparticles (TieNieFe@Gr) exhibit excellent catalytic effect on the de/re-hydrogenation characteristics of MgH2, lowering the onset desorption temperature and improving cycling performance. Analysis suggests possible electronic exchange between the catalyst and Mg/MgH2. Anchoring on the graphene template prevents agglomeration that would be detrimental to cycling performance.
