Modelling and vibration evaluations of rotational mistuning-connecting disk-drum coupling structures with partial hard-coating damping treatment

Dongxu Du et al.

Summary: This study develops discontinuous arc connections with different connecting stiffness to simulate actual mistuning connections. The dynamic model of rotational mistuning-connecting disk-drum coupling structures is derived and verified. The mistuning connections induce changes in mode order, frequency division, and vibration localization. Mistuning also affects the key information in Campbell diagrams.

Single-sensor-based dynamic response reconstruction of blades under base excitation

Kai Zhou et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method to reconstruct the dynamic response of blades under base excitation by measuring the dynamic response. The method includes two steps, which are divided into single-frequency response components using empirical mode decomposition and combining the time-domain and frequency-domain response transmissibility matrices. The results of the study demonstrate the feasibility of the response reconstruction method for blades under base excitation.

Fatigue crack retardation by the application of hard damping coating to blades under resonance

Qing-yu Zhu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a hard damping coating via atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) method to inhibit crack propagation of blade specimens. Fatigue tests show that the hard damping coating has the ability to retard crack growth. A finite element (FE) model of standard blade specimens with breathing crack is established and verified, and the crack propagation model is introduced. The effects of coating thickness, elastic modulus, and density on crack growth are discussed, as well as the influence of coating treatment on crack propagation in different stages.

Kunpeng Xu et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel method to detect the parameters of blade substrate cracks in hard-coated blisks, utilizing mistuning identification technique and finite element simulation to establish basic data sets. The method proves to effectively detect crack parameters for all blades with high efficiency, showing higher accuracy in crack location detection than crack size detection. The proposed method exhibits good and stable identification accuracy for cracks within a specific size and location range.

Experimental investigation on fatigue of blade specimen subjected to resonance and effect of a damping hard coating treatment

Chen Yu-gang et al.

Summary: This paper presents experimental results of fatigue behavior of compressor blade specimen subjected to resonance, along with the effects of a damping hard coating on relieving fatigue progress. Significant nonlinear features were observed in the spectrum of the blade with a fatigue crack, and a finite element model was established to simulate the vibration behavior of the cracked blade. Depositing a NiCrAlY coating on the blade was shown to increase its fatigue life in the experiments.

Identification and influence factors analysis of blade crack mistuning in hard-coated blisk based on modified component mode mistuning reduced-order model

Kunpeng Xu et al.

Summary: Blade cracks in hard-coated blisks can lead to severe mistuning and vibration localization. A mistuning identification method based on a modified component mode mistuning reduced-order model is proposed to identify crack mistuning and analyze factors such as crack location, length, radial position, and modal data type influencing mistuning. The results show that crack length affects mistuning, with crack position and modal data type also impacting mistuning significantly.
