Investigating the interfacial properties of halide perovskite/TiOx heterostructures for versatile photocatalytic reactions under sunlight

Tae Hyung Kim et al.

Summary: Solvent-free reduction of CO2 using amorphous TiOx with embedded colloidal perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) has been achieved by carrying out hydrolysis of titanium butoxide (TBOT) on the PNC surface. The photoexcited electrons are transferred from PNCs to TBOT, enabling photocatalytic reactions using TiOx under visible-light excitation. Efficient visible-light-driven photocatalytic reactions at PNC/TiOx interfaces, with a CO production rate of 30.43 µmol g(-1) h(-1) and accelerated degradation of organic pollutants under natural sunlight, have been demonstrated.

Zn (II)-Doped Cesium Copper Halide Nanocrystals with High Quantum Yield and Colloidal Stability for High-Resolution X-Ray Imaging

Kang Qu et al.

Summary: By adjusting the doping concentration and morphology uniformity, researchers obtained monodisperse nanocrystals with small grain size and colloidal stability. The optimal doping concentration resulted in a photoluminescence quantum yield of 92.8%, a 28.5% improvement compared to nondoped nanocrystals. Density functional theory calculations revealed that the Zn2+ dopant occupied Cu sites and the I-rich condition suppressed the formation of I vacancy, leading to an enrichment of excited electron density at the band-edge and enhancing self-trapped exciton emission. Additionally, high luminescence performance and flexible X-ray scintillator films were prepared using Zn2+-doped Cs3Cu2I5 nanocrystals, with a spatial resolution of up to 15.7 lp mm(-1). This work provides an effective strategy for the development of environmentally friendly, low-cost, and efficient blue-emitting 0D all-inorganic metal halides, as well as demonstrates their great potential for high-performance flexible lead-free and low-toxicity X-ray detector applications.

Summary: This review summarizes the challenges and progress in the development of solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes (SOLEDs) in both industry and academia. Solution processing offers advantages like material efficiency, low-cost production, and scalability. However, there are complications related to solvent resistance and suitable solution-processable materials, ultimately leading to less efficient and shorter-lived SOLEDs compared to those fabricated by thermal evaporation. This review highlights the current status of SOLED development and presents research guidelines to overcome these limitations and achieve efficient, long-lasting, and commercially-viable SOLEDs.

Metal Ion-Incorporated Lead-Free Perovskites toward Broadband Photodetectors

Junhua Shen et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskites, particularly Cs2SnI6, have garnered significant attention in optoelectronics due to their superior performance. However, the 2D form of Cs2SnI6 has limited performance compared to lead-based perovskites. To improve this, the doping or passivation of perovskites with aliovalent metal ions (nickel and zinc) is proposed. The introduction of these ions enhances photoluminescence and reduces surface trap/defect density, resulting in Cs2SnI6 perovskites with improved broadband detection, responsivity, and detectivity.
