Nonlinear Optical Rectification in an Inversion-Symmetry-Broken Molecule near a Metallic Nanoparticle

Natalia Domenikou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the nonlinear optical rectification of a quantum system interacting with an optical field near a metallic nanoparticle. The nonlinear optical rectification coefficient is derived using the steady-state solution of the density matrix equations under external strong field excitation. Ab initio electronic structure calculations are used to determine the necessary spectroscopic data of the molecule under study, while classical electromagnetic calculations provide insight into the influence of the metallic nanoparticle on the molecular spontaneous decay rates and external electric field. The study finds that the nonlinear optical rectification coefficient can be significantly enhanced by adjusting parameters such as the intensity and polarization of the incident field and the distance between the molecule and the metallic nanoparticle.

Nonlinear plexcitons: excitons coupled with plasmons in two-photon absorption

Yichuan Chen et al.

Summary: This paper theoretically investigates the nonlinear optical properties of a D-A conjugated organic molecule and proposes a method to enhance its properties using surface plasmon resonances and nonlinear optics. The results show a significant improvement in two-photon absorption by 10(6) times using a nonlinear plexciton method.

Second harmonic generation by strongly coupled exciton-plasmons: The role of polaritonic states in nonlinear dynamics

Summary: Our study focuses on second harmonic generation (SHG) from hexagonal periodic arrays of triangular nano-holes of aluminum. We use a self-consistent methodology based on the hydrodynamics-Maxwell-Bloch approach. The results show that angular polarization patterns of the far-field second harmonic response abide to threefold symmetry constraints on tensors.
