Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of immediate skin-to-skin contact with a parent on the cardiorespiratory stabilisation of very preterm infants. The results showed that immediate skin-to-skin contact had beneficial effects on the cardiorespiratory stability of these infants when compared to standard incubator care.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of kangaroo mother care (KMC) by mother and her surrogate on the nutritional behavior and physiological function of preterm neonates. The results showed that when the mother is unable to provide this type of care, it can be provided by a surrogate that is equally effective in improving arterial oxygen saturation and feeding behavior of preterm neonates.

Improving the uptake of Kangaroo Mother Care in neonatal units: A narrative review and conceptual framework

Summary: Kangaroo Mother Care is beneficial for high-risk infants, but global uptake is lacking. A conceptual framework encompassing factors such as parental, healthcare professional, and healthcare system factors is proposed to improve the initiation and maintenance of Kangaroo Mother Care in neonatal units. Through understanding the potential interplay between these factors, strategies can be developed to increase the uptake of Kangaroo Mother Care.

Comparing breastfeeding experiences between mothers spending the traditional Chinese confinement period in a confinement centre and those staying at home: a cohort study

Summary: In Malaysia, ethnic Chinese mothers follow traditional confinement practices for 30 days after childbirth. Recently, confinement centres have emerged where mothers can receive traditional care. However, despite concerns that practices in these centres may contribute to low breastfeeding rates among ethnic Chinese mothers, there is currently no data to support this. This study aimed to describe mothers' breastfeeding experiences at confinement centres and identify areas for potential improvement in breastfeeding support.

Kangaroo father care: A pilot feasibility study of physiologic, biologic, and psychosocial measures to capture the effects of father-infant and mother-infant skin-to-skin contact in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Factors that influence parents' and informal caregivers' views and practices regarding routine childhood vaccination: a qualitative evidence synthesis

Summary: Our study revealed that parents' views and practices regarding childhood vaccination are complex and dynamic social processes influenced by various factors. We provided a theorized understanding of social processes contributing to vaccination acceptance, complementing individualistic models. Developing interventions to promote vaccination acceptance will require tailoring to specific factors influencing views and practices in the target setting. Themes and concepts from our review could serve as a basis for developing interventions aligned with the norms and concerns of target users.
