Magnetic activated charcoal/Fe2O3 nanocomposite for the adsorptive removal of 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from aqueous solutions: Synthesis, characterization, optimization, kinetic and isotherm studies

Ramesh Vinayagam et al.

Summary: The study introduced a novel approach by utilizing Spondias dulcis leaf extract to fabricate a magnetic activated charcoal/Fe2O3 nanocomposite for the efficient removal of 2,4-D from aqueous solutions. Optimization using BoxBehnken Design and Artificial Neural Network showed a high adsorption efficiency of 98.12% at specific conditions. The nanocomposite exhibited excellent performance with a maximum adsorption capacity of 255.10 mg/g, surpassing previous reports for magnetic nano adsorbents in 2,4-D removal.
