A high-energy dual-ion battery based on chloride-inserted polyviologen cathode and LiCl/DMSO electrolyte

Feng Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the energy density of dual-ion batteries (DIBs) was improved by using a Cl--insertable polymer as the cathode material and a low-cost electrolyte solution. The Li-PBV-Cl2 DIB achieved the highest actual energy density and exhibited excellent cycling stability and rate capability after adding an electrolyte additive. The concepts introduced in this research provide insights for the development of high-energy, low-cost, and sustainable DIBs.
