Dual Active Centers Bridged by Oxygen Vacancies of Ruthenium Single-Atom Hybrids Supported on Molybdenum Oxide for Photocatalytic Ammonia Synthesis

Haibo Yin et al.

Summary: In this study, Ru-SA/HxMoO3-y hybrids were synthesized and demonstrated to be efficient in photogenerated synthesis of NH3. The dual active centers (Ru SA and Mon+) play important roles in promoting the activation and migration of H-2 and the adsorption and dissociation of N-2, leading to high NH3 generation rate and quantum efficiency.

Rational Design of High-Concentration Ti3+ in Porous Carbon-Doped TiO2 Nanosheets for Efficient Photocatalytic Ammonia Synthesis

Qing Han et al.

Summary: The study presents porous carbon-doped anatase TiOx (C-TiOx) nanosheets with high-concentration active sites of Ti3+ obtained through a reproducible bottom-up approach. It demonstrates that the high-concentration Ti3+ sites play a vital role in enhancing N-2 photoreduction activity. Combined with the morphology of porous nanosheets and the loading of a Ru/RuO2 cocatalyst, the optimized C-TiOx shows a high NH3 production rate and remarkable quantum efficiency under visible-light irradiation, outperforming current TiO2-based photocatalysts.

Electrochemical potential controlling preparation of oxygen vacancies modified SrTiO3 with Ti3+ and Ti2+ self-doping in molten salt

Xinyue Liu et al.

Summary: Self-doping of Ti3+ and Ti2+ in oxygen vacancies modified SrTiO3 crystal can significantly enhance its photocatalytic properties. The XPS analysis showed that the concentration of Ti3+ ions and oxygen vacancies in SrTiO3 increased with increased cell voltage, while XRD patterns demonstrated a shift towards higher diffraction angles as cell voltage increased and crystal volume decreased. Absorption peak of Ti2+ self-doping in SrTiO3 was observed when cell voltage exceeded 2.7 V, leading to extended optical absorption in visible light and narrowed bandgap energy.

Nanoconfinement-Induced Conversion of Water Chemical Adsorption Properties in Nanoporous Photocatalysts to Improve Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

He Li et al.

Summary: The adsorption of water molecules on active sites in nanoconfined spaces plays a crucial role in enhancing the performance of heterogeneous photocatalytic reactions. Maximizing water inside the nanocage and altering the distribution of water molecules can significantly impact the chemical adsorption capacity of water on the photocatalyst, ultimately improving its performance. This study provides a deeper understanding of the nano interior cavity effects on water molecule adsorption and how it influences the capability of chemical adsorption on active sites of interior photocatalysts.
