Recent advances in metal/covalent organic frameworks based materials: Their synthesis, structure design and potential applications for hydrogen production

Wei -Ting Chung et al.

Summary: In recent years, both MOFs and COFs, known for their specific surface area, tunable porosity, and structural versatility, have been widely used in catalysis. Among these applications, catalytic hydrogen production processes have received significant attention as an alternative energy source to fossil fuels and a solution to global warming. This review provides an overview of the recent advancements and applications of MOFs/COFs-based catalysts for hydrogen production, including steam reforming, dry reforming, electrocatalytic water splitting, photocatalytic water splitting, and photo-electrocatalytic water splitting. The design of MOF/COF-based catalysts, as well as the opportunities and challenges in their use for hydrogen production, are also discussed.

Fast-Switching Vis-IR Electrochromic Covalent Organic Frameworks

Derya Bessinger et al.

Summary: Electrochromic thin films based on covalent organic frameworks (COFs) exhibit high coloration efficiency and fast switching speeds, with reversible absorption changes of close to 3 OD triggered at low operating voltages and low charge per unit area. The champion material reaches a coloration efficiency of 858 cm(2) C-1 at 880 nm and maintains >95% of its response over 100 oxidation/reduction cycles, with extremely fast response times below 0.4 seconds for oxidation and around 0.2 seconds for reduction.
