The PRIDE database resources in 2022: a hub for mass spectrometry-based proteomics evidences

Yasset Perez-Riverol et al.

Summary: PRIDE is the largest data repository of mass spectrometry-based proteomics data in the world, with around 500 datasets submitted per month. In addition to continuous improvements in data pipelines and infrastructure, PRIDE has developed the Spectra Archive and MAGE-TAB file format to enhance sample metadata annotation and access to mass spectra.

Building blocks and blueprints for bacterial autolysins

Spencer Mitchell et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the role of bacterial autolysins in biological processes and developed a pipeline to analyze the autolysin repertoires of various pathogenic bacteria, revealing commonalities and differences among them. Furthermore, unannotated sequence regions within the lytic enzymes were identified, which may contain new domains with important functions.

Structural Characterization of EnpA D,L-Endopeptidase from Enterococcus faecalis Prophage Provides Insights into Substrate Specificity of M23 Peptidases

Piotr Henryk Malecki et al.

Summary: The M23 family members, such as lysostaphin or LytM, are well-characterized glycyl-glycine hydrolases. Enzymes like EnpA(CD) from Enterococcus faecalis exhibit a broad specificity for cleaving D,L peptide bonds. The substrate-binding groove architecture and specificity of M23 enzymes suggest that they prefer peptides with short side chains or alternating chirality of amino acids.
