Cupressus arizonica Greene: Phytochemical Profile and Cosmeceutical and Dermatological Properties of Its Leaf Extracts

Nora Tawfeek et al.

Summary: In this study, the phytochemical profile of Cupressus arizonica Greene leaf extracts was analyzed, and it was found that these extracts contained various compounds with antioxidant, anti-aging, and antibacterial activities. The aqueous extract showed significant antioxidant potential and inhibited enzymes related to skin remodeling and aging. It also suppressed biofilm formation and decreased motilities of a common skin pathogenic bacteria. Therefore, C. arizonica leaves can be considered as a promising candidate for skincare application.

Lyophilized Extracellular Vesicles from Adipose-Derived Stem Cells Increase Muscle Reperfusion but Degrade Muscle Structural Proteins in a Mouse Model of Hindlimb Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

Bharati Mendhe et al.

Summary: Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a common complication affecting multiple organs and tissues. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from adipose stem cells may be a potential therapeutic resource for preventing tissue damage associated with I/R injury. However, while EVs may enhance reperfusion, they can also negatively impact muscle tissue and possibly remote organs. Alternative approaches, such as targeting mitochondrial permeability, may be more effective at mitigating I/R injury.

Protective effects of Hirudin against compartment syndrome in rabbits through the activation of Nrf2/HO-1

Jianhang Du et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the protective efficacy of double-doses of hirudin in compartment syndrome and its association with the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway. The results showed that hirudin at a dose of 8 ATU/kg presented the lowest levels of histological damage, fibrosis, W/D ratio, and oxidative stress. Additionally, treatment with hirudin markedly downregulated the level of inflammatory factors. At 72 h after compartment syndrome, hirudin showed a protective effect associated with the nuclear translocation of Nrf2 and an elevated expression of HO-1.

Summary: PAD is increasingly recognized as a major cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide. The focus on PAD in recent years has led to new epidemiological insights and highlighted the importance of polyvascular disease in cardiovascular research and clinical practice. PAD may present similar or even greater risk compared to coronary artery disease or stroke.
