[18F]FAPI PET/CT in the evaluation of focal liver lesions with [18F]FDG non-avidity

Jing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of [F-18]fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) PET/CT in focal liver lesions (FLLs) with [F-18]FDG non-avidity. The results showed that [F-18]FAPI PET/CT has high sensitivity in detecting HCC and non-HCC malignancies with [F-18]FDG non-avidity, and it may be a promising radiopharmaceutical for differentiating benign noninflammatory FLLs and liver malignancy with [F-18]FDG non-avidity.

Kongzhen Hu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the optimal image acquisition time for [F-18]FAPI-42 is 1 hour postinjection, and it exhibits comparable lesion detectability to [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04. The uptake in tumors was rapid and reached a high level, and [F-18]FAPI-42 showed higher SUVmax in liver and bone lesions and higher TBRs in various lesions compared to [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04.

Clinical Utility of F-18 Labeled Fibroblast Activation Protein Inhibitor (FAPI) for Primary Staging in Lung Adenocarcinoma: a Prospective Study

Youcai Li et al.

Summary: The study compared the primary staging of F-18 labeled fibroblast activation protein inhibitor ([F-18]F-FAPI) with that of F-18 labeled fluordesoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ([F-18]F-FDG PET/CT) in patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LAD). The results showed that [F-18]F-FAPI PET/CT had a high detection rate for primary LAD and provided clearer tumor delineation and more lesions, especially in lymph nodes, the brain, and pleura. However, brain MRI could identify more and smaller lesions than [F-18]F-FAPI PET/CT.

Development and Validation of a Novel Model to Predict Regional Lymph Node Metastasis in Patients With Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Xiaoyuan Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the incidence of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients and explore the role of lymph node dissection (LND). A novel model was developed to predict the presence of LNM in HCC patients. The study found that LNM is an independent prognostic factor in HCC, but routine LND seems to be unnecessary.

Xin Zhou et al.

Summary: This study compared the clinical staging performance of [(68) Ga]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT and 2-[F-18]FDG PET/CT in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. The results showed that [(68) Ga]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT had better staging performance in NSCLC patients, especially in localized disease.

Comparisons of Quantitative Parameters of Ga-68-Labelled Fibroblast Activating Protein Inhibitor (FAPI) PET/CT and [18F]F-FDG PET/CT in Patients with Liver Malignancies

Dheeratama Siripongsatian et al.

Summary: [(68)Ga]Ga-FAPI PET/CT with dedicated liver PET/MRI shows potential for superior detection of hepatic malignancy compared with [F-18]FDG PET/CT or MRI alone. The combination of [(68)Ga]Ga-FAPI PET/CT and dedicated liver PET/MRI provides higher sensitivity and better activity in detecting liver malignancies, which has significant clinical implications.

Identification of a Prognostic Transcriptome Signature for Hepatocellular Carcinoma with Lymph Node Metastasis

Jie Ma et al.

Summary: This study identified gene modules associated with the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with lymph node metastasis (LNM) and developed a prognostic biomarker, PSG-30. PSG-30 effectively identifies HCC LNM patients with poor prognosis, and patients with high expression of RAD54B may benefit from immunotherapy.

Lilan Fu et al.

Summary: This study compared [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04/[F-18]FAPI-42 PET/CT with [F-18]FDG PET/CT in the evaluation of initial gastric cancer. The results showed that [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04/[F-18]FAPI-42 PET/CT outperformed [F-18]FDG PET/CT in the evaluation of primary tumors with signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) and peritoneal metastasis. However, no clinically useful improvement was observed in N staging.

The fibrotic and immune microenvironments as targetable drivers of metastasis

Luke Boulter et al.

Summary: Cancer cells exist within a complex microenvironment of stromal cells and extracellular matrix, where interactions between stromal cell subtypes and signaling pathways play a crucial role in controlling metastasis. The heterogeneity and plasticity within stromal cell populations add to the complexity and provide opportunities for new therapeutic approaches for targeting metastatic disease. Understanding these networks is essential for developing effective treatments.

Summary: Functional imaging techniques such as PET/CT with FDG have been studied to identify aggressive features in HCC. Increased FDG uptake in HCC lesions may predict certain aggressive factors. Summary: The study evaluated the potential utility of [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT for diagnosing primary and metastatic liver lesions in patients with liver cancer and compared it with other imaging modalities. The findings suggest that [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT is comparable to CE-CT and liver MRI in identifying primary liver tumors and metastatic lesions.
