Hybrid whale optimisation algorithm for energy efficient cognitive radio network

M. Pravin et al.

Summary: This article presents a hybrid technique for achieving energy efficiency in cognitive radio networks. By combining the Whale Optimization Algorithm and Firefly Algorithm, the proposed method successfully maintains the Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) requirements of the primary receiver and cognitive users. Comparison with existing approaches demonstrates its effectiveness.

Robust Beamformer Design in Active RIS-Assisted Multiuser MIMO Cognitive Radio Networks

Raviteja Allu et al.

Summary: In this work, we propose a joint robust transmission, reflection, and reception strategy design for an active reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted underlay multiple input multiple output (MIMO) cognitive radio networks. We consider the impact of imperfect channel state information (CSI) at the secondary transmitter and formulate a sum mean squared error (MSE) minimization problem. Due to the non-convex nature of the problem, we propose an alternating optimization (AO) based iterative algorithm to find the optimal solutions. We also analyze the impact of the limited power budget at active RIS and compare it with passive RIS in terms of network performance.

Intelligent Spectrum Sharing and Sensing in Cognitive Radio Network by Using AROA (Adaptive Rider Optimization Algorithm)

Reshmi Krishna Prasad et al.

Summary: Recently, wireless spectrum has been allocated to licensees for large geographic areas on a long-term basis. Cognitive Radio Networks (CRN) can provide mobile users with a significant amount of available bandwidth. However, CRN networks face challenges due to spectrum management issues such as spectrum sensing and sharing. In this paper, an Adaptive Rider Optimization (AROA) algorithm is proposed to enhance the energy efficiency for different spectrum sensing conditions. The AROA algorithm is utilized to compute the sensing time, sequence length, and detection threshold, and it uses an adaptive threshold detection method to detect the spectrum with optimal values of transmission power and sensing bandwidth. The AROA algorithm enables spectrum sensing and sharing in CRN networks. The proposed method is implemented in MATLAB, and various performance metrics such as Normalized Energy consumption, delay, SNR, Jitter, blocking probability, convergence analysis, and Throughput are evaluated. The proposed method is compared with existing methods like Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO).
