Summary: In this study, the unexpected formation of a 1:1 co-crystal compound was observed during the modification of isoniazid for improved efficacy against Mycobacteria species. The co-crystal formation occurred due to the spontaneous generation of benzoic acid during the autoxidation of benzaldehyde.

Summary: The reaction and structure of cyclic phthalic acid imide N-isonicotinoylphthalimide were investigated using NMR and XRD, revealing the spatial structure and conformation of the molecule. The absence of pi-conjugation between the phenyl and carbonyl groups in the free molecule was found, with the rotation of the pyridine ring in the crystal determined by pi-pi interactions between the rings.
