Profiling hepatocellular carcinoma aggressiveness with contrast-enhanced ultrasound and gadoxetate disodium-enhanced MRI: An intra-individual comparative study based on the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System

Jie Yang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare CEUS and EOB-MRI in assessing the aggressiveness of HCC. The results showed that CEUS had higher specificity for diagnosing macrovascular invasion, while LR-M features on EOB-MRI were more effective in identifying higher tumor grade and MVI status.

Contrast-EnhancedUltrasound Quantification Assessment of Focal Fatty Variations in Liver Parenchyma Challenging the Traditional Qualitative Paradigm of Uniform Enhancement With Adjacent Parenchyma

Vasileios Rafailidis et al.

Summary: This study aimed to quantify and compare contrast-enhanced ultrasound enhancement of focal fatty sparing (FFS) and focal fatty infiltration (FFI) with adjacent liver parenchyma. FFS showed significantly lower and slower enhancement compared to liver parenchyma, while FFI enhanced identically.

The diagnostic performance of gadoxetic acid disodium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and contrast-enhanced ultrasound in detecting hepatocellular carcinoma A meta-analysis

Summary: The study found that MRI had superior sensitivity to CEUS in diagnosing HCC, especially for lesions with a diameter of less than 30 mm. However, there was no significant difference in diagnostic specificity between MRI and CEUS for HCC lesions.

Summary: CEUS has excellent diagnostic accuracy for non-invasive diagnosis of HCC in cirrhosis. CEUS algorithms may be a helpful refinement of the hyper-hypo pattern defined by current HCC guidelines.

The Effect of Diffuse Liver Diseases on the Occurrence of Liver Metastases in Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Summary: Diffuse liver diseases have a protective effect against synchronous liver metastases in non-liver solid cancer patients, particularly for viral hepatitis. However, for metachronous liver metastases, diffuse liver diseases have a slightly protective effect.

CONTRAST-ENHANCED ULTRASOUND PATTERNS FOR THE NON-INVASIVE DIAGNOSIS OF HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA: A PROSPECTIVE MULTICENTER STUDY IN HISTOLOGICALLY PROVEN LIVER LESIONS IN A REAL-LIFE SETTING DEMONSTRATING THE BENEFIT OF EXTENDED LATE PHASE OBSERVATION

Barbara Schellhaas et al.

Summary: This study confirmed the typical pattern of APHE followed by late-onset, mild washout in the majority of HCCs, while also noting that early and marked washout was more common in iCCA cases.

Non-invasive imaging criteria for the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma in non-cirrhotic patients with chronic hepatitis B

Carlos Moctezuma-Velazquez et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the performance of EASL and LI-RADS criteria for diagnosing HCC in non-cirrhotic patients with chronic HBV infection. The criteria showed a positive predictive value comparable to that seen in patients with cirrhosis when the pre-test probability of HCC is >70%. These criteria could be used for diagnosing HCC in non-cirrhotic patients with HBV.
