Fresh Azolla, Azolla pinnata as a Complementary Feed for Oreochromis niloticus: Growth, Digestive Enzymes, Intestinal Morphology, Physiological Responses, and Flesh Quality

Mohamed M. M. Refaey et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the use of fresh green azolla (FGA) as a replacement for daily fish feed intake. The results show that a 20% replacement with azolla leads to the highest growth performance, hematological parameters, and feed conversion ratio. Furthermore, the activities of intestinal enzymes are highest in the 20% replacement group. Additionally, a replacement level of 20% improves antioxidant response and reduces muscular pH, stored loss, and frozen leakage rate.

Application of duckweed (Lemna sp.) and water fern (Azolla sp.) in the removal of pharmaceutical residues in water: State of art focus on antibiotics

Ingrid Maldonado et al.

Summary: In recent decades, antibiotic residues in the environment have increased, affecting components of biological communities. Phytoremediation with floating aquatic species such as Lemna and Azolla has been found to be an effective method for removing these compounds. This study analyzes the efficiency of antibiotic removal using these plants and explores the physiological processes and phytotoxic effects associated with high concentrations of pollutants.

Effect of varying dietary Azolla levels on growth, carcass characteristics, blood biochemical parameters and digestive enzymes of growing Egyptian geese

Mai A. E. Ismail et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the influence of dietary levels of Azolla on growing geese. The results showed that 8% and 16% Azolla in the diet positively affected the growth performance and blood biochemical parameters of the geese during the fattening period.

Azolla leaf meal at 5% of the diet improves growth performance, intestinal morphology and p70S6K1 activation, and affects cecal microbiota in broiler chicken

A. M. Abdelatty et al.

Summary: The study indicates that adding 5% Azolla leaf meal (ALM) to broiler chicken diets may have positive effects on intestinal morphology and function, but adding 10% ALM could have negative impacts on the liver.

Phytofabrication of selenium nanoparticles using Azolla pinnata: Evaluation of catalytic properties in oxidation, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities

Gopalan Rajagopal et al.

Summary: In this study, selenium nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using Azolla pinnata plant extract as a reducing and capping agent. Characterization of the synthesized nanoparticles revealed their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. It was demonstrated that the nanoparticles act as an effective catalyst in oxidation reactions and show potential as antioxidant and antimicrobial agents.
