Blueberry extract alleviated lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation responses in mice through activating the FXR/TGR5 signaling pathway and regulating gut microbiota

Summary: Changes in intestinal microbial composition may lead to the development of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) by disrupting the balance of their interaction with the host. This study evaluated the effect of a combination treatment with two Lactobacillus strains on a mouse model of colitis and found that it ameliorated the symptoms by altering intestinal microbial composition and suppressing inflammatory response. The treatment also had additional beneficial effects such as maintaining goblet cell numbers, improving intestinal barrier damage, and reducing pro-inflammatory lipopolysaccharides.

These findings demonstrate the potential of gut microbiota modulation as a therapeutic approach for developmental arsenic neurotoxicity.

Summary: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by its relapsing and remitting nature, and it is considered a major healthcare problem. This study evaluated the therapeutic effects of oral probiotics and azithromycin regimens in a rat model of UC, and found that the combination therapy showed the most synergistic beneficial effects in improving histological architecture and reducing inflammation markers in UC tissues. These findings highlight the potential of combining probiotics and azithromycin as a therapeutic approach to enhance the quality of life in UC patients.

Overexpression of TLR4 in colitis and colitis-associated cancer (CAC) promotes tumorigenesis by facilitating cell proliferation, inhibiting apoptosis, promoting invasion and metastasis, and creating a tumor-favorable microenvironment. Studies have shown an interplay between TLR4 and miR-155 in the context of different disorders or cell lines, with a possible positive feedback loop between TLR4 and miR-155 contributing to the synergistic effect on CAC development.
