Rates of Postoperative Recurrence of Crohn's Disease and Effects of Immunosuppressive and Biologic Therapies

Pauline Riviere et al.

Summary: This study investigated the rates of clinical and surgical recurrence of Crohn's disease after surgery, and found that therapy modification based on post-operative endoscopic findings can impact disease recurrence rates. However, while initiating immunosuppressant or biological therapy after endoscopy showed a modest decrease in risk of clinical recurrence for patients with Rutgeerts scores of i3 or i4, this effect was not observed for patients with scores of i2.
