IL-10 Negatively Controls the Primary T Cell Response of Tilapia by Triggering the JAK1/STAT3/SOCS3 Axis That Suppresses NF-KB and MAPK/ERK Signaling

Kang Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the suppression of T cell immunity by IL-10 in a Nile tilapia model. The findings reveal that IL-10 inhibits T cell activation and differentiation through the activation of JAK1/STAT3 axis and suppression of NF-KB and MAPK/ERK signaling pathways.

Evaluating Salmonella pullorum dissemination and shedding patterns and antibody production in infected chickens

Xuehuai Shen et al.

Summary: This study systematically evaluated the dissemination of S. pullorum in internal organs and bacterial fecal shedding patterns, as well as antibody production in infected chickens. The study found that chickens of different ages have different responses to S. pullorum infection and revealed a high risk of horizontal transmission of S. pullorum.

Tetramethylpyrazine Protects Blood-Spinal Cord Barrier Integrity by Modulating Microglia Polarization Through Activation of STAT3/SOCS3 and Inhibition of NF-kB Signaling Pathways in Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis Mice

Lianshuang Zhang et al.

Summary: TMP protects BSCB integrity by modulating microglia polarization and signaling pathways, leading to decreased pro-inflammatory cytokines and increased anti-inflammatory cytokines secretion. This alleviates clinical symptoms and demyelination in EAE mice, suggesting TMP as a potential therapeutic agent for disorders with BSCB disruption.

STAT3 and its targeting inhibitors in osteosarcoma

Yun Liu et al.

Summary: STAT3, a key protein involved in cell growth, differentiation, and survival, is overexpressed in osteosarcoma and various cancers. Its constitutive activation leads to upregulation of oncogenes, affecting processes such as transformation, proliferation, and metastasis.

Polysulfide-mediated sulfhydration of SIRT1 prevents diabetic nephropathy by suppressing phosphorylation and acetylation of p65 NF-κB and STAT3

Hai-Jian Sun et al.

Summary: Sodium tetrasulfide (Na2S4) treatment can ameliorate diabetic kidney disease by inhibiting inflammation cytokines and reducing oxidative stress, renal fibrosis, and cell apoptosis. Na2S4 acts through sulfhydrating SIRT1 to deactivate p65 NF-kappa B and STAT3 phosphorylation/acetylation, ultimately reducing oxidative stress, inflammation response, and EMT progression in renal tubular epithelial cells.

Heritable Gut Microbiome Associated with Salmonella enterica Serovar Pullorum Infection in Chickens

Jinmei Ding et al.

Summary: This study investigated the association among the host genome, the gut microbiome, and S. Pullorum infection in chickens. The results showed that the gut microbial structure is altered in S. Pullorum-infected chickens, and the diversity and abundance of the gut microbiota differ significantly between the offspring from S. Pullorum-positive and S. Pullorum-negative parent chickens, with heritable gut microbiota detected in the offspring. Host genetic variants were linked to microbial diversity and individual gut microbes, and pathogens Pelomonas and Brevundimonas showed high heritability in S. Pullorum-infected chickens.

Th1/Th2 Balance in Young Subjects: Relationship with Cytokine Levels and Metabolic Profile

Ines Matia-Garcia et al.

Summary: The study aimed to identify Th1 and Th2 cell clusters in young subjects and their characteristics, as well as the Th1/Th2 balance. Three clusters were formed based on clinical and metabolic characteristics, showing associations between Th1/Th2 balance and cardiometabolic risk factors in young population.

A Salmonella type III effector, PipA, works in a different manner than the PipA family effectors GogA and GtgA

Momo Takemura et al.

Summary: NF-kappa B signaling is important in the host defense against pathogens. Infection with Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium can be modulated by the effectors GogA and GtgA, which inhibit NF-kappa B activation.

Salmonella Effector SpvB Inhibits NF-κB Activity via KEAP1-Mediated Downregulation of IKKβ

Sidi Yang et al.

Summary: This study characterized the effects of SpvB on the NF-κB signaling pathway, revealing that SpvB inhibits NF-κB activation by targeting IKKβ and involving KEAP1. These findings uncover a novel mechanism by which Salmonella modulates NF-κB activity.

Single-cell analyses reveal phosphate availability as critical factor for nutrition of Salmonella enterica within mammalian host cells

Jennifer Roder et al.

Summary: This study used bacteria with reporter plasmids to investigate environmental cues acting on Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (STM) within host cells, revealing that P-i concentration in the Salmonella-containing vacuole (SCV) is limiting and P-i limitation increases with bacterial proliferation. It was also observed that STM in the host cell cytosol did not face P-i limitations. Additionally, the activity of SPI2-T3SS relieved P-i limitation in the SCV.
