Effect of a synthetic feline facial pheromone product on stress during transport in domestic cats: a randomised controlled pilot study

Hang Shu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of a new synthetic feline facial pheromone product on relieving stress in domestic cats during short-distance transport. The results showed that after using the product, stress-related behaviors in cats during transport were significantly reduced, especially in cats with higher stress scores.

Survey of risk factors and frequency of clinical signs observed with feline cognitive dysfunction syndrome

Brittany MacQuiddy et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify common clinical signs of feline cognitive dysfunction (FCD) and evaluate potential risk factors by distributing a survey to cat owners. The results showed that inappropriate vocalization was the most common clinical sign in the FCD-positive group. The only variable associated with the FCD group was the environmental setting, suggesting a possible link between living in a rural environment and a reduced chance of cognitive dysfunction.

Cognitive Dysfunction in Cats: Update on Neuropathological and Behavioural Changes Plus Clinical Management

Lorena Sordo et al.

Summary: Cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) in cats is a confirmed condition that shares similarities with human Alzheimer's disease, resulting in cognitive decline and potential dementia. Cats with CDS exhibit behavioral abnormalities and neuropathologies, making them a potential natural model for human dementia studies.

Improved neurocognitive performance in FIV infected cats following treatment with the p75 neurotrophin receptor ligand LM11A-31

Jonathan E. Fogle et al.

Summary: Neurotrophin-based therapies have the potential to stabilize and repair the nervous system in HIV-infected individuals. LM11A-31, a non-peptide ligand targeting the p75 neurotrophin receptor, showed strong neuroprotective effects in a natural infection model with chronically FIV-infected cats, preventing cognitive decline and neural dysfunction.
