Utilization of Silver Silicate for the Formation of Highly Dispersed Silver on Silica Catalysts

Petra H. Keijzer et al.

Summary: This paper reports the use of silver silicate as an intermediate for the preparation of silica-supported silver nanoparticles. By limiting the transport of silver species during precursor decomposition, the utilization of silver silicate resulted in silver nanoparticles that are 20 times smaller than those formed by direct reduction of a supported silver nitrate precursor. The prepared supported silver nanoparticles exhibited high dispersion and excellent stability in carbon monoxide oxidation.

Optically sensitive isolated silver nano-dots development by broad ion implantation on nitrogen ion-induced pre-patterned silicon nano-templates

Sudip Bhowmick et al.

Summary: Isolated silver nano-dot formation on pre-patterned silicon nitride nano templates using ion bombardment was reported. The presence of the Ag dots significantly enhanced the Raman signal, with a change in light reflectance observed on the surface. The study described the growth mechanism of pyramidal structures by ion bombardment and the process of isolated Ag dot formation.

A step-by-step guide to perform x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

Grzegorz Greczynski et al.

Summary: There is a growing concern within the surface science community regarding the decline in work quality and meaningless chemical bond assignment in XPS articles. This trend could have disastrous consequences for scientific research. To address this, a comprehensive tutorial is offered, providing a step-by-step guide for experimental planning, data acquisition, spectra analysis, and results presentation, with a focus on improving the quality and reliability of XPS data analysis. The tutorial aims to broaden the application of XPS and enhance practitioners' ability to draw meaningful insights from XPS analysis.

Hole-injection barrier across the intermolecular interaction mediated interfacial DNTT layer

Subhankar Mandal et al.

Summary: The electronic structures and morphology of DNTT thin films on HOPG and pc-Au substrates were investigated, revealing distinct phenomena on the two substrates. On HOPG, the films showed broad or sharp HOMO bands after growth or thermal annealing, respectively. On pc-Au, a split HOMO band and reduced hole-injection barrier were observed in a monolayer thick film, which were absent in thicker films. The formation of an interfacial layer with strong intermolecular interaction at the DNTT/pc-Au interface is of great importance in increasing charge-injection efficiency.
