Direct estimation and correction of residual aberrations in the reconstructed exit-wavefunction of a crystalline specimen

Z. K. Chen et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of measuring second-order residual aberrations in a transmission electron microscope using the minimum amplitude contrast criterion for exit wave function reconstruction. The study proposes a two-step strategy of simultaneously measuring defocus and twofold astigmatism, followed by more efficient estimation of threefold astigmatism and coma after minimizing misleading effects. The influences of specimen structure, resolution, and specimen thickness on the validity of the method are also discussed.

Robust, fiducial-free drift correction for super-resolution imaging

Michael J. Wester et al.

Summary: In this study, a robust drift correction method is proposed for super-resolution methods based on single molecule localization, which combines 3D registration with a fast post-processing algorithm, ensuring stability and drift correction for an indefinite time period without specialized hardware.

Mean inner potential of graphite measured by electron holography: Probing charge distribution and orbital diamagnetic susceptibility

Avi Auslender et al.

Summary: The research focused on the relationship between the mean-inner-potential (MIP) of anisotropic materials and the mean orbital electron radii and diamagnetic susceptibilities. Analyses of the structure and properties of graphite crystals were conducted through off-axis electron holography experiments, revealing significant anisotropy.
