A. Singh et al.

Summary: The present study aims to predict the maximum temperature in line contacts based on operational conditions. A TEHL simulation model is used to calculate the maximum temperature for various parameters. A neural networks approach is then employed to develop a surrogate model that can predict the maximum temperature based on operational parameters. The study shows the influence of different NN architectures and transfer functions on accuracy.

Triboinformatic modeling of the friction force and friction coefficient in a cam-follower contact using machine learning algorithms

Hasan Bas et al.

Summary: In this study, modern machine learning algorithms were used to estimate the coefficient of friction and friction force in a cam follower mechanism. Three different ML algorithms (ANN, SVM, and GPR) were implemented to experimental tribological data to estimate the change in friction properties depending on the cam rotation angle. The results showed that ML models could effectively estimate the change in friction properties and the performance of different ML models varied. The FF-ANN model performed the best in estimating the friction force, while the FC-GPR model was more successful in estimating the coefficient of friction.

Research on damage and failure behaviour of coated self-lubricating spherical plain bearings based on detection of friction torque and temperature rise

Yunfan Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the wear failure behavior of coated self-lubricating spherical plain bearings under different working conditions, using torque and temperature rise signals as indicators of bearing wear. The results revealed that the wear failure mechanisms mainly included abrasive wear and adhesive wear. The changes in torque and temperature rise signals could serve as a physical criterion for determining bearing failure.
