The significance of volume overload in the development of pulmonary arterial hypertension in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis patients

Mohammad Nekooeian et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the predictive parameters of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) using transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and bioimpedance analysis (BIA). The results showed that predictive parameters related to PAH included the ECW/TBW ratio, expiratory diameter of the inferior vena cava (IVC), and TTE findings such as left atrial diameter (LAD) and diastolic dysfunction (DDF).
