Clinical study on the correlation between monocyte-related ratios and calcification of the abdominal aorta in peritoneal dialysis patients

Jiani Sun et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR) and monocyte/high-density lipoprotein ratio (MHR) with abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) in patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD). The results showed that MLR is an independent risk factor for the occurrence and severity of AAC, and its value for the assessment of AAC is better than MHR.

Summary: A higher monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR) is associated with increased risks of both cardiovascular disease (CVD) events and infectious disease hospitalization in dialysis patients.

Prognosis of systemic inflammation at an early stage of cirrhosis using the monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio during malnutrition risk screening: a prospective cohort study

Summary: MLR can serve as a predictor of malnutrition risk in the early stages of cirrhosis. High MLR is associated with a higher risk of malnutrition and correlates with RFH-NPT score. MLR>0.4 is an independent factor for malnutrition risk.

Relative Predictive Value of Circulating Immune Markers in US Adults Without Cardiovascular Disease: Implications for Risk Reclassification

Kartik Gupta et al.

Summary: This study investigated the predictive value of circulating immune cell markers for cardiovascular mortality in ambulatory adults without cardiovascular disease, finding that MLR had the best predictive value. Adding MLR to the 10-year ASCVD risk score significantly improved risk classification for participants.

Association between Preoperative Monocyte-to-Lymphocyte Ratio and Late Arteriovenous Fistula Dysfunction in Hemodialysis Patients: A Cohort Study

Summary: This study found that in Chinese HD patients, a higher preoperative MLR is associated with a greater risk of AVF dysfunction, with each unit increase in MLR associated with a 4.32 times higher risk of AVF dysfunction. Therefore, MLR may be a useful indicator for measuring the risk of AVF dysfunction.
