Summary: Using longitudinal data, this study examines the impact of internet use on fertility among reproductive-age women in China. The findings show that internet use reduces the number of children born, particularly among those with moderate education, aged 16-19, rural residents, and married women. Various factors, such as decreased marital satisfaction, changed attitudes toward gender roles, reduced importance placed on ancestral lines, decreased health, and altered fertility preferences contribute to the decrease in fertility.

Summary: This study investigates the regional effects of high-speed broadband coverage on economic growth in European Union Member States from 2011 to 2018. The research finds that expansions in lower-speed broadband access contribute to per capita growth in both urban and rural regions, but the impact is weaker in regions with higher ruralization. On the other hand, high-speed broadband coverage is significantly related to rural economic growth but has no impact on urban regions. The results suggest that strengthening rural high-speed digital expansion can be a game-changer for rural development and advocate for closing the urban-rural digital gap.

Summary: Using data from multiple sources, this research examines the impact of the digital economy on female employment in China. The findings suggest that the digital economy has a significant positive effect on female employment, promoting the formation of egalitarian gender perspectives and increasing labor demand for female-preference occupations. However, the digitalization of the economy does not lead to overall improvements in the quality of female employment, with underemployed females experiencing longer working hours and minimal improvement in employee rights and interests.

Summary: This study matches province-level ICT development with micro-level data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), measures ICT development and job quality with multiple indicators, and investigates the impact of regional ICT development on employee job quality. The research findings are as follows: First, ICT development has a significant positive impact on employee job quality, which remains valid after robustness tests and addressing endogeneity issues. Second, when employee job quality is poor, there is a relatively strong promotion of ICT development. Third, ICT development has an indirect impact on job quality through Internet awareness. Finally, ICT development plays a relatively strong role in promoting job quality among women, older individuals, non-agricultural workers, and medium-skill employees. From a policy perspective, promoting ICT development, bridging the digital divide, increasing investment in education, and considering the different characteristics of employees are suggested to improve job quality.

Summary: The study finds that while COVID-19 has led to a decrease in public concern for climate change, acceptance of most climate policies has increased. Adverse health experiences and negative economic experiences, except for unemployment, are unrelated to these changes. Additionally, the study shows that people who believe climate change contributed to the COVID-19 outbreak have higher climate concern and policy acceptance, while higher policy acceptance is associated with a positive opinion of the government's response to the pandemic. Furthermore, citizens have favorable attitudes towards a carbon tax with revenues used to compensate for COVID-19-related expenditures.

Summary: This study analyzes the relationship among economic growth, environmental degradation, and various factors such as foreign direct investment, urbanization, renewable energy, and information communication technology. The findings reveal an inverted U-shape relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation, supporting the validity of the Environmental Kuznets Curve. Foreign direct investment has a positive impact on economic growth at lower quantiles but becomes insignificant at higher quantiles. Urbanization promotes environmental degradation, while renewable energy mitigates carbon dioxide emissions. Information communication technology, represented by internet usage, significantly reduces environmental degradation.

This study used machine learning to determine the predictors of Internet use among older adults, finding that age, socioeconomics, and cognitive functions were the most robust and consistent predictors. Additional factors, such as alcohol use, were also discovered. The findings suggest that design prioritization should focus on reducing age-related cognitive challenges to improve technology use among older adults.
