Adsorption isotherm calculation and mechanism of high pressure and high temperature shale gases

Shu Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption mechanism of high pressure and high temperature shale gases was investigated using molecular dynamic simulations. An analytical model of adsorption isotherms in organic nanopores at high pressure and temperature was developed and verified by experiments. The results showed that the adsorption mechanism for high pressure and temperature shale gases is free gas filling and the adsorbed layer becomes compressed with a density higher than the maximum density. The compressed adsorbed layers have high mobility and contribute to increased gas production in deep- and ultra-deep shale gases. The mobility of adsorbed layers decreases when the pressure decreases.

Removal and recovering of anionic and cationic dyes using Neem Leaf ash prepared at 250, 500 and 750 °C: Analyzed by adsorption isotherm and physicochemical parameters

Yong -Tao Duan et al.

Summary: To develop an efficient and inexpensive green adsorbent for the removal of organic pollutants from wastewater, a sustainable environment is needed. This study focuses on the adsorption of cationic and anionic dyes on ash of dry leaves of Neem prepared at different temperatures. The results showed that cationic dyes had higher adsorption capacity compared to anionic dyes, and the adsorption process could be explained by the Ameta Physicochemical Adsorption Analysis model. Crystal violet and methylene blue were found to have high adsorption capacities, with over 700 mg per gram of ash. The recovered dyes were analyzed using FTIR and UV/Visible spectroscopy, and the reusability of the adsorbent was demonstrated.

Removal of anionic and cationic dyes using porous chitosan/carboxymethyl cellulose-PEG hydrogels: Optimization, adsorption kinetics, isotherm and thermodynamics studies

Honglin Zhu et al.

Summary: Chitosan (CS)/carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) porous hydrogels crosslinked by epichlorohydrin and with polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a pore-forming agent were synthesized for removal of anionic (Congo red, CR) and cationic (methylene blue, MB) dyes from aqueous solutions. The addition of PEG significantly increased the adsorption of CR and MB, with optimal performance observed for hydrogels prepared with 2% CS and 2% CMC (CS2/CMC2). The adsorption processes followed pseudosecond-order and pseudo-first-order kinetics models for CR and MB, respectively. Freundlich and Langmuir models were suitable for describing the adsorption isotherms of CR and MB, respectively. The thermodynamic study confirmed that the adsorption of CR and MB by the hydrogels was spontaneous, with CR adsorption being endothermic and MB adsorption being exothermic.

Unlocking grapevine in vitro regeneration: Issues and perspectives for genetic improvement and functional genomic studies

Floriana Nuzzo et al.

Summary: In vitro plant regeneration is a crucial process in genetic engineering for obtaining a large number of transgenic, cisgenic, and gene edited plants. However, this process is impaired in grapevine and other woody and fruit tree species due to factors like genotype and explant-dependent responses. Overcoming this obstacle is essential for gene editing and functional genome studies in grapevine. In addition, issues like somaclonal mutations and achieving regeneration identical to the original mother plant need to be addressed. By optimizing protocols and considering new genomic data, a clearer understanding of the molecular regulation of plant regeneration can be achieved.
