Basilar artery formed by persistent primitive trigeminal artery: a case report

Summary: The purpose of this study was to present a case of basilar artery formed by persistent primitive trigeminal artery diagnosed using digital subtraction angiography. PPTA is a common branching variation of embryological origin, typically joining the BA and supplying SCA, AICA, or PICA branches. This is the first report of a case where the VA terminates in the PICA, and PPTA forms the BA and solely supplies the posterior circulation.

Persistent trigeminal artery detected on computed tomography angiography

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of persistent trigeminal arteries (PTAs) using computed tomography (CT) angiography and compare the findings with relevant literature. The study included 1150 patients who underwent cerebral CT angiography, and the results showed a prevalence of 0.6% for PTAs. Understanding and diagnosing PTAs is crucial for physicians and radiologists in order to prevent potential vascular pathologies.
