Epitaxial growth and oxidation behavior of the NiCoCrAlYTa/Y2O3 coating on a nickel-based single-crystal superalloy blade tips, produced by electro spark deposition

Shuai Yang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the microstructure and epitaxial growth behavior of the NiCoCrAlYTa/Y2O3 coating prepared by electro spark deposition. The coating exhibits ultra-fine columnar crystal structure and directional epitaxial growth, which contribute to its excellent oxidation resistance compared to the substrate.

Surface hardness and corrosion behavior of laser surface-alloyed Ti6Al4V with copper

Q. Qiao et al.

Summary: In this study, laser surface alloying of Ti6Al4V with different Cu contents was achieved using a high-power diode laser. It was found that higher Cu content resulted in finer grain size, more intermetallic phases (IMPs) formed, and increased hardness. Corrosion behavior study showed that the specimen alloyed with 6 wt% Cu exhibited mild micro-galvanic effect, while the specimen with 17 wt% Cu had the lowest corrosion resistance due to significant micro-galvanic effect between the IMPs and the matrix.

Synthesis of Ti-Cu Multiphase Alloy by Spark Plasma Sintering: Mechanical and Corrosion Properties

Oleg O. Shichalin et al.

Summary: The material based on the binary system Ti + Cu (50% atm) was studied, and intermetallic phases including CuTi2, TiCu, and Ti3Cu4 were obtained. The material exhibited good hardness, microhardness, and corrosion resistance, with the variation in hardness being attributed to the presence of pure metal agglomerates. Furthermore, the relationship between the temperature of spark plasma sintering and the material characteristics was revealed.
