Interplay of defects in low energy nitrogen implanted ZnO nanorods

Amaresh Das et al.

Summary: This study presents a comprehensive investigation on the interplay between nitrogen and various defects in ZnO nanorods, revealing that nitrogen implantation induces structural damages and forms nitrogen-related defect complexes. Post-implantation annealing in O2 and Ar environments plays a key role in stabilizing nitrogen dopants in ZnO nanorods.

Role of H-bond along with oxygen and zinc vacancies in the enhancement of ferromagnetic behavior of ZnO films: An experimental and first principle-based study

Preetam Singh et al.

Summary: Pure ZnO films annealed in H-2 ambience exhibit room temperature ferromagnetism, with observed enhancements in O-H concentration, carrier concentration, and vacancy type defects. The increase in magnetic moment is explained by the increased carrier mediated exchange interaction among localized magnetic moments at V-Zn sites, as verified both experimentally and theoretically.

Measurement and analysis of photoluminescence in GaN

Michael A. Reshchikov

Summary: Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy is an important tool for studying semiconductor properties and identifying point defects. Gallium nitride (GaN) is a remarkable semiconductor material used in LEDs and laser devices. This tutorial covers PL experiments, near-band-edge emission characteristics, and quantitative analysis methods for defects in GaN.

Tuning of ferromagnetic behavior of GaN films by N ion implantation: An experimental and first principle-based study

Preetam Singh et al.

Summary: N-ion implanted GaN films exhibit tunable room temperature ferromagnetic behavior, with the presence of implanted N observed at interstitial sites of the GaN host matrix resulting in strain in the film. XRD analysis shows the strain, while PL spectra reveal defect engineering post N-ion implantation. XPS spectra further confirm bonding of implanted N with the host Ga and/or N, leading to the origin of ferromagnetic behavior due to unpaired electrons at N sites caused by Ga vacancies.
