Co-Dissolved Isostructural Polyoxovanadates to Construct Single-Atom-Site Catalysts for Efficient CO2 Photoreduction

Yu-Jie Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a co-dissolved strategy was employed to incorporate mono-dispersed Pt center into V2O5 support by dissolving [PtV9O28](7-) into [V10O28](6-) aqueous solution. The uniform dispersion of [PtV9O28](7-) in [V10O28](6-) solution allowed for the PtV9O28(7-) to be encapsulated by V10O28(6-) clusters through a freeze-drying process. The resulting Pt-V2O5 single-atom-site catalysts exhibited significantly higher CH4 yield and efficient CO2 photoreduction.

In this study, copper nanoclusters modified TiO2 samples with oxygen vacancies were obtained through a convenient molten-salt method. The resulting samples showed excellent photocatalytic performance for CO2 reduction into CO, surpassing most reported TiO2-based photocatalysts. The superior activity is attributed to the synergistic optimization of thermodynamics and kinetics of the reaction by copper nanoclusters and oxygen vacancies, resulting in a reaction pathway with a lower energy barrier. This work provides an easy and low-cost strategy for fabricating highly dispersed cocatalysts and surface defects to enhance artificial photosynthesis.
