Evidences of Topological Surface States in the Nodal-Line Semimetal SnTaS2 Nanoflakes

Wenshuai Gao et al.

Summary: Exploring the topological surface state of a topological semimetal has always been challenging due to the contribution of the bulk state. In this work, measurements and calculations were performed on SnTaS2 crystals, revealing distinct quantum oscillations in SnTaS2 nanoflakes with a thickness below 110 nm. The analysis of the oscillation spectra and theoretical calculation confirmed the two-dimensional and topological nontrivial nature of the surface band in SnTaS2.

Proximity-induced superconductivity in epitaxial topological insulator/graphene/gallium heterostructures

Cequn Li et al.

Summary: We report on the growth and properties of high-quality (Bi,Sb)(2)Te-3/graphene/gallium heterostructures. Our synthetic approach enables atomically sharp layers at both hetero-interfaces, promoting proximity-induced superconductivity originating in the gallium film. A lithography-free, van der Waals tunnel junction is developed to perform transport tunnelling spectroscopy. We find a robust, proximity-induced superconducting gap formed in the Dirac surface states, and the presence of a single Abrikosov vortex manifesting in discrete conductance changes.

Ultrathin Metallic NbS2 Nanosheets with Unusual Intercalation Mechanism for Ultra-Stable Potassium-Ion Storage

Jinhui Zhou et al.

Summary: This research reports the synthesis of a new type of ultrathin metallic NbS2 nanosheets as anodes for potassium-ion batteries (PIBs), and reveals a potassium intercalation mechanism that is different from typical transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). The nanosheets demonstrate excellent rate capability and long-term cycling performance, indicating good stability.

Basal Plane Functionalization of Niobium Disulfide Nanosheets with Cyclopentadienyl Manganese(I) Dicarbonyl

Jarrett D. Dillenburger et al.

Summary: Basal plane-functionalized NbS2 nanosheets were obtained using in situ photolysis to generate the coordinatively unsaturated organometallic fragment, which bonded to electron-rich sulfur atoms on the surface under UV irradiation. The reactivity difference with MoS2 nanosheets was attributed to the stronger bonding with metallic NbS2 than with semiconducting MoS2, as supported by electronic structure calculations and characterization using XPS, FTIR, and PXRD.

Superconducting 2D NbS2 Grown Epitaxially by Chemical Vapor Deposition

Zhenyu Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, epitaxial chemical vapor deposition growth of 2D NbS2 crystals on a sapphire substrate was demonstrated, with controlled thickness and phase transition. The high-quality superconducting properties of the NbS2 crystals were confirmed through Raman spectroscopy, STEM, and electrical transport measurements, making them suitable for next-generation TMDC-based electrical devices.

Evidence for one-dimensional chiral edge states in a magnetic Weyl semimetal Co3Sn2S2

Sean Howard et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates that magnetic Weyl semimetals, such as Co3Sn2S2, may provide a new platform for the higher temperature realization of robust chiral edge states. The study shows the presence of linearly dispersing topological states confined to the edges of the kagome Co3Sn terraces in the magnetic Weyl system.
