Obstructive sleep apnea and risk of suicide and self-harm: a Danish Nationwide Cohort Study

Summary: This study used Danish registries to estimate the risk of suicide and deliberate self-harm in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Patients with OSA were found to have an increased risk of both suicide and deliberate self-harm when compared with a large reference cohort, highlighting the importance of mental health screening in these patients.

Summary: In this study, participants with mild to moderate-severe obstructive sleep apnea were more likely to report multiple involuntary job losses. Even after adjusting for age, sex, ethnicity, starting work time, job type, and compensation type, participants with moderate-severe OSA still had higher odds of involuntary job loss.
