A class of incrementally scattering-passive nonlinear systems

Shantanu Singh et al.

Summary: This article investigates a special class of nonlinear infinite dimensional systems obtained by subtracting a nonlinear maximal monotone operator from the semigroup generator of a linear system. The authors show that this new class of systems is well-posed and incrementally scattering passive using the theory of maximal monotone operators and the Crandall-Pazy theorem about nonlinear contraction semigroups.

One-dimensional wave equation with set-valued boundary damping: well-posedness, asymptotic stability, and decay rates

Yacine Chitour et al.

Summary: The paper analyzes the one dimensional wave equation with different boundary conditions, establishing a correspondence between solutions and a discrete-time dynamical system to study the existence and stability of solutions under specific conditions. It provides necessary conditions for the existence and stability of solutions under certain boundary conditions, and determines optimal decay rate strategies.

WELL-POSEDNESS OF LINEAR FIRST ORDER PORT-HAMILTONIAN SYSTEMS ON MULTIDIMENSIONAL SPATIAL DOMAINS

N. A. T. H. A. N. A. E. L. Skrepek

Summary: This paper investigates a port-Hamiltonian system on an open spatial domain Omega in R-n with a bounded Lipschitz boundary, demonstrating the presence of a boundary triple associated with this system. The study aims to characterize boundary conditions that result in unique solutions which decrease in the Hamiltonian. Additionally, the development of quasi Gelfand triples theory and the application of natural boundary controls and observations contribute to the construction of scattering/impedance passive boundary control systems. These established frameworks are further utilized in analyzing wave equations, Maxwell's equations, and the Mindlin plate model, hinting at potential for broader applications.
