Tongwei Yuan et al.

Summary: A new method of etching-calcination was proposed to produce porous n-ZnO/p-Co3O4 nanoplates with superior gas sensing performance. The characterization analysis revealed that the material had a high specific surface area, abundant surface oxygen vacancies, and a p-n heterojunction. The material exhibited excellent CO detection with high response value and anti-interference ability. Furthermore, a comparison experiment was conducted to investigate the synthesis and gas sensing mechanism in depth.

Construction of Co3O4/Fe3O4 heterojunctions from metal organic framework derivatives for high performance toluene sensor

Hongyan Liu et al.

Summary: Uniform Co3O4/Fe3O4 nanospheres were synthesized using a solvothermal method combined with a liquid-based metal organic framework synthesis route. Functionalizing Fe3O4 with different ratios of Co3O4 resulted in enhanced toluene sensing performance, with a maximum response value of 87 at 225 degrees C, 20 times higher than pure Fe3O4 nanospheres. The Co3O4-functionalized nanospheres demonstrated improved selectivity and sensitivity, with a response/recovery time of 16/162 s and a decreased detection limit in the ppb level. The construction of p-n heterojunctions and the catalytic influence of Co3O4 were identified as the main factors contributing to the improved sensing performance.

Sensing platform of PdO-ZnO-In2O3 nanofibers using MOF templated catalysts for triethylamine detection

Lanlan Guo et al.

Summary: A new sensing platform of PdO-ZnO-In2O3 nanofibers was prepared using a unique catalyst loading method (Pd@ZIF-8), demonstrating enhanced triethylamine response, selectivity, and response/recover speed compared to pure In2O3 and ZnO-In2O3 nanofibers. The study showed that the ultra-small PdO catalysts and heterojunctions in the composite nanofibers contributed to their distinguished gas sensing performance, suggesting great potential for triethylamine detection and effective use of ZIF-8 template for designing sensitive materials.
