A selective methane gas sensor based on metal oxide semiconductor equipped with an on-chip microfilter

Ruijie Wu et al.

Summary: Gas sensors based on metal oxide semiconductor are cost-effective and reliable for methane leakage detection, but they have cross sensitivity to volatile organic compounds. This study presents a novel on-chip microfilter that enhances the selective and sensitive response to methane and can be used for different oxide-based sensors.

Flexible, biocompatible, and electroconductive Polyurethane foam composites coated with graphene oxide for ammonia detection

Yeon Jae Kim et al.

Summary: Polyurethane foam (PUF) composites with tunable mechanical, stretchable, and electroconductive properties were synthesized using a sequential procedure of vapor phase polymerization (VPP) and GO impregnation. The composites underwent reactions and bubble generation to create porous foam, followed by vapor phase polymerization of conductive polymers (CPs) and impregnation of GO on the surface. The materials were analyzed for various properties and evaluated for biocompatibility and cell proliferation, with PUF-PPy-GO showing promise as a NH3 gas sensing material.

Polydopamine-modified SnO2 nanofiber composite coated QCM gas sensor for high-performance formaldehyde sensing

Zhanjia Kang et al.

Summary: This paper presents a quartz crystal microbalance sensor based on SnO2 NFs/PDA composite with high sensitivity and selectivity to formaldehyde gas. The sensor exhibited excellent sensing characteristics over a wide range of formaldehyde concentration, including high sensitivity, short response/recovery times, and high linearity. The adsorption mechanism of formaldehyde gas was attributed to hydrogen bonding and aldehyde ammonia Schiff base interactions.

Rapid detection of d-limonene emanating from citrus infestation by Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) using a developed gas-sensing system based on QCM sensors coated with ethyl cellulose

Tao Wen et al.

Summary: A gas-sensing system based on QCM sensors coated with EC was developed to detect D-limonene aromas from Australian citrus for the rapid detection of early infestation by B. dorsalis. The sensor showed good selectivity and repeatability, with extended lifetime and high consistency with GC-MS analysis.

Effect of electrode pores on the performance of CO electrochemical gas sensor, experimental and modeling

S. S. SebtAhmadi et al.

Summary: This paper presents a kinetic model for a CO gas electrochemical sensor, in which sensor behavior over time is simulated. The sensitivity and catalytic property of the sensor were found to be influenced by factors such as input pores diameter, gas passing membranes thickness, and sensor volume. Different sensors with membranes of varying porosity and thickness were made to verify the accuracy of the proposed model, showing a good match with the test results.

Formaldehyde gas sensors based on SnO2/ZSM-5 zeolite composite nanofibers

Yanhui Sun et al.

Summary: The addition of zeolite on the surface of metal oxides enhances the selectivity of gas sensors, and the synthesis of SnO2/ZSM-5 composite nanofibers can improve sensor sensitivity and selectivity to formaldehyde. The interface between the two materials plays a significant role in enhancing sensor properties.
