Dual domain acoustic olfactory discriminator

Tanju Yildirim et al.

Summary: This study utilizes acoustic transduction with a quarter wavelength resonator, a speaker, and a microphone to detect and identify gas properties. Experimental data reveals resonance frequency curves and speed of sound for each gas, while time domain data allows for multi-dimensional data analysis. The device is capable of adequately identifying gases at concentrations of at least several thousand ppm.

Vapour pressure deficit determines critical thresholds for global coffee production under climate change

Jarrod Kath et al.

Summary: This study examines the effects of temperature, precipitation, soil moisture, and vapour pressure deficit (VPD) on Arabica coffee production and identifies VPD as a key indicator of global coffee productivity. The study suggests that if global warming exceeds 2 degrees Celsius, the risk of exceeding the VPD threshold will sharply increase for most countries.

Correlation Gas Chromatographic Study of the Vaporization Enthalpies and Vapor Pressures of the Major Sesquiterpene Hydrocarbons in Patchouli Oil

Megan Orf et al.

Summary: This study reports the vaporization enthalpies and vapor pressures of several sesquiterpene hydrocarbons in patchouli oil using different hydrocarbon standards, while also evaluating the reproducibility of thermochemical properties in complex mixtures. The results are compared to available literature data.

Determination of quasi-primary odors by endpoint detection

Hanxiao Xu et al.

Summary: The proposed method introduces quasi-primary odors as an alternative approach to represent odors, selected from a dataset using machine learning-based endpoint detection and combined with certain ratios. This allows for reproducing any other odor in the dataset and even synthesizing a new arbitrary odor by combining these quasi-primary odors.
