Self-supervision assisted multimodal remote sensing image classification with coupled self-looping convolution networks

Shivam Pande et al.

Summary: Recently, there has been an increase in the use of multimodal data in the remote sensing community for various tasks. Deep learning techniques are being used for multimodal data fusion, but they face challenges such as limited feature extraction capability, high labelled data requirement, and lack of cross-modal interaction. To address these challenges, a novel self-supervision oriented method of multimodal remote sensing data fusion is proposed. The approach involves solving a self-supervised auxiliary task, implementing convolutions in both backward and forward directions, and incorporating cross-modal communication.

Effects of Training Set Size on Supervised Machine-Learning Land-Cover Classification of Large-Area High-Resolution Remotely Sensed Data

Christopher A. Ramezan et al.

Summary: The research explores the impact of training set size on classification algorithm performance. Random forests (RF) demonstrated the highest overall accuracy, while GBM was costly in terms of training time and resources. Other algorithms, such as NEU and SVM, were sensitive to training set size, while LVQ had lower overall accuracy but was insensitive to sample size.

Dynamic Wide and Deep Neural Network for Hyperspectral Image Classification

Jiangbo Xi et al.

Summary: The paper proposed a dynamic wide and deep neural network (DWDNN) for HSI classification, including multiple efficient wide sliding window and subsampling (EWSWS) networks that can grow dynamically with problem complexity. Compared to other deep learning methods, the proposed approach achieved the highest test accuracies.
