Green energy induced photocatalytic decomposition of methylene blue and crystal violet dyes by strontium doped tin oxide nanoparticles and its antibacterial activity

Summary: In this study, sunlight driven strontium doped tin oxide (SnO2) photocatalyst was synthesized using the simplest sol-gel method. The incorporation of Sr2+ ions in the host lattice sites was confirmed by XRD diffractogram findings. Optical studies showed a reduction in energy bandgap values with increasing Sr doping concentration. The Sr doped SnO2 nanoparticles exhibited significant photocatalytic performance and efficient antibacterial activity.

Green synthesis of strontium-doped tin dioxide (SrSnO2) nanoparticles using the Mahonia bealei leaf extract and evaluation of their anticancer and antimicrobial activities

Summary: A green method using Mahonia bealei leaf extract was employed to synthesize strontium-doped tin dioxide nanoparticles (SrSnO2 NPs). The synthesized NPs were characterized using XRD, FE-SEM, FTIR, and PL spectroscopy measurements, showing a tetragonal rutile crystal structure and confirming the chemical composition. The SrSnO2 NPs exhibited effective antibacterial properties and showed anticancer effects against MCF-7 breast cancer cells through apoptosis. This study demonstrates the potential healthcare application of green SrSnO2 nanoparticles.

Summary: Commercially affordable titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) catalyst with low toxicity and high efficiency were prepared by scalable Flame pyrolysis method. The synthesized TiO2 NPs exhibited spherical morphology with an average size of about 150 nm and a combination of anatase and rutile phase, showing increased catalytic activity for dye removal. The flame synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles showed strong dye removal efficiency, making it vitally important for wastewater treatment and industrial dyes removal applications.

Green synthesis of SrO bridged LaFeO3/g-C3N4 nanocomposites for CO2 conversion and bisphenol A degradation with new insights into mechanism

Summary: Recently, green synthesis routes of nanomaterials have gained significant attention for their potential in addressing sustainability concerns. In this research, g-C3N4 nanosheets based nanocomposites were synthesized using Eriobotrya japonica as a mediator and stabilizer agent. The resulting nanocomposites exhibited abundant organic functional groups, activated surface, and strong adsorption capability, making them highly favorable for CO2 conversion and bisphenol A degradation. The coupling of LaFeO3 nanosheets enlarged the surface area and enhanced charge separation, while the insertion of SrO bridge facilitated electron transportation and photo-electron modulation. The final resulting sample showed significantly improved activities for CO2 conversion and bisphenol A degradation compared to pristine green g-C3N4 nanosheets.

Effective treatment of resistant opportunistic fungi associated with immuno-compromised individuals using silver biosynthesized nanoparticles

Summary: Drug resistance to antifungal medicines in filamentous fungus is a major problem in biomedical applications, and an effective strategy is needed to treat opportunistic fungal infections. In this study, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared using an aqueous extract of Mentha piperita and their antifungal activity against Aspergillus species was investigated. The structural properties of AgNPs were characterized using various techniques, and it was found that AgNPs exhibited a single-phase fcc structure. The antifungal efficacy of AgNPs was determined using disc and broth microdilution methods, and it was found to be highly successful in inhibiting the growth of all tested fungi. The study also revealed that AgNPs had an impact on the enzymatic activity of A. fumigatus.
