Long-term Telerehabilitation or Unsupervised Training at Home for Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease A Randomized Controlled Trial

Paolo Zanaboni et al.

Summary: By comparing long-term telerehabilitation and unsupervised treadmill training at home with standard care, the study found that both telerehabilitation and unsupervised training can effectively reduce hospitalizations and emergency department visits in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Can we predict who will benefit most from biologics in severe asthma? A post-hoc analysis of two phase 3 trials

Wenjia Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the combined capacity of patient characteristics in predicting treatment response to mepolizumab in patients with severe asthma. Patient characteristics had a greater capacity to predict treatment response to asthma control than to exacerbation. Key predictors for treatment benefit included exacerbation history, blood eosinophil count, baseline ACQ5 score, age, and presence of nasal polyps.

Treatment effectiveness for Vocal Cord Dysfunction in adults and adolescents: A systematic review

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for vocal cord dysfunction (VCD), with results showing associations between glottic airway and respiratory retraining, botulinum toxin injections, low-dose amitriptyline, and Inspiratory muscle strength training devices with symptom reduction. However, there is a high risk of bias and low quality of evidence across all intervention areas.

Summary: This article presents recommendations for managing severe asthma based on clinical variables and treatment options. Expert opinions were provided on investigating biomarker levels, clinical features, and safety considerations. The current evidence suggests the importance of biomarker measurements and the impact of oral corticosteroid use on biologic selection.

Occupational COPD-The most under-recognized occupational lung disease?

Nicola Murgia et al.

Summary: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is primarily caused by smoking and occupational exposure, with the latter often being underestimated. Early diagnosis, identification of occupational causes, and collaborative treatment are crucial for preventing further decline in lung function and reducing the burden of COPD.

Effectiveness of Interventions Targeting Treatable Traits for the Management of Obstructive Airway Diseases: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Muhammad Rehan Sarwar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of interventions targeting treatable traits (TTs) for managing obstructive airway diseases (OADs). The meta-analyses showed that TT interventions were effective in improving health-related quality of life, reducing hospitalizations, decreasing all-cause-1-year mortality, alleviating dyspnea, anxiety, and depression in OADs.
