Effects of humidity, aerosol, and cloud on subambient radiative cooling

Jingyuan Huang et al.

Summary: Passive radiative cooling is an eco-friendly solution for space cooling that emits thermal radiation to the cold higher sky through atmospheric windows. The cooling performance is influenced by environmental factors such as humidity, aerosol level, and cloud coverage. A theoretical model that quantitatively evaluates the effects of these factors on a radiator is proposed, considering the vertical variations of vapor concentration and temperature, as well as the impact of aerosol scattering and cloud coverage.

Research on indirect cooling for photovoltaic panels based on radiative cooling

Shuai Li et al.

Summary: Radiative cooling (RC) is a passive cooling technology that can efficiently cool photovoltaic (PV) panels without consuming energy or producing pollution. This paper proposes an indirect cooling system for PV panels based on RC, which utilizes a cold storage module and water system to reduce the temperature and increase the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the PV panels. Experimental results demonstrate that the system effectively decreases the average temperature of the PV panels and improves the PCE, and the inclusion of a cover shield and large water tank capacity further enhances the system efficiency.

Designing Mesoporous Photonic Structures for High-Performance Passive Daytime Radiative Cooling

Summary: Passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC) is gaining attention for its ability to cool without electricity. Porous polymers are attractive due to their excellent performance and scalability. This study explores how PDRC performance is affected by pore properties, such as size and porosity, through optical simulations. The results show that mixed nanopores have higher solar reflectance than single-sized pores, and under a semi-humid atmospheric condition, using an AI substrate can significantly increase thermal emittance and net cooling power. These findings provide guidance for designing high-performance porous coatings for PDRC applications.
