A review of convolutional neural network architectures and their optimizations

Shuang Cong et al.

Summary: This paper thoroughly analyzes and elaborates on the typical architectures of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) as well as their optimizations. A typical approach to classifying CNNs architecture based on modules is proposed in order to accommodate new network architectures with multiple characteristics. Six types of typical CNNs architectures are analyzed and explained, considering their pros and cons and performance comparisons. The paper also explores the intrinsic characteristics of CNNs architectures and provides a comprehensive classification of network compression and accelerated network architecture optimization algorithms. Additionally, the paper discusses the strategy of NAS algorithms, the applications of CNNs, and the challenges and prospects of the current CNNs architecture and its optimizations.

Predicting industrial building energy consumption with statistical and machine-learning models informed by physical system parameters

Sean Kapp et al.

Summary: The industrial sector consumes a significant amount of global energy and is often targeted for reduction. Previous models had limitations in capturing all factors contributing to energy consumption. Using data from 45 manufacturing plants, a machine-learning model was developed to predict industrial building energy consumption. The model incorporates weather conditions, support equipment parameters, and production-related factors. Results showed that a linear regression model outperformed a support vector machine and utilized features more representative of physical systems.

Prediction of remaining useful life and state of health of lithium batteries based on time series feature and Savitzky-Golay filter combined with gated recurrent unit neural network

Fei Guo et al.

Summary: In this paper, a prediction model for the state of health (SOH) and remaining useful life (RUL) of lithium batteries (LIBs) is developed by combining the Savitzky-Golay (SG) filter with gated recurrent unit (GRU) neural networks. Experiments and verification show that the proposed SG-GRU prediction model is effective for different applications, providing accurate prediction results under various charging strategies and different batteries. The model accurately tracks the nonlinear degradation trend of capacity during the whole cycle life, with a root mean square error of prediction controlled within 1%.
