Trajectories of depression and anxiety symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic in a representative Australian adult cohort

Summary: This study investigated the levels and trajectories of depression and anxiety symptoms during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. Three trajectories for depression symptoms and four trajectories for anxiety symptoms were identified. Factors such as age, gender, COVID-19-related work and social impairment, financial distress, neurological or mental illness diagnosis, and recent adversity were significantly associated with baseline depression and anxiety scores.
