Manifestation of the silicate filler additives and electron beam irradiation on properties of SBR/devulcanized waste tire rubber composites for floor tiles applications

Khaled F. El-Nemr et al.

Summary: By adding silicate fillers and irradiating with electron beams, mechanical properties of composites can be significantly improved, especially enhancing ultimate tensile strength, modulus, and cross-link density. Among the silicate fillers, micaosilica showed the best performance in floor tile application.

Recycled HDPE/Natural Fiber Composites Modified with Waste Tire Rubber: A Comparison between Injection and Compression Molding

Ali Fazli et al.

Summary: In this study, sustainable and fully recycled wood-plastic composites were reinforced by waste tire rubber particles to show balanced properties and potentially low-cost materials. The effects of mixing ratio, coupling agent, and molding process on the properties of the hybrid composites were investigated. The results showed that adding flax fibers increased the modulus of the composite, while substituting flax fibers with waste rubber particles improved the impact strength. Additionally, the injection molded composites had a more uniform morphology and higher tensile strain at break and impact strength compared to compression molded samples.

Carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene-natural rubber latex blends with methyl methacrylate grafted natural rubber latex: mechanical properties and morphology

Hui Mei Lim et al.

Summary: The effect of blending commercially available carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene latex with natural rubber latex on mechanical properties and morphology was investigated. The addition of methyl methacrylate grafted natural rubber latex did not enhance the mechanical properties of the blend films. Atomic force microscopy phase imaging analysis showed enhanced polymer distribution and evidence of interactions between natural rubber latex, methyl methacrylate grafted natural rubber latex, and carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene latex.
