Blast response and multi-objective optimization of graded re-entrant circular auxetic cored sandwich panels

Feng Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a sandwich protection system with graded re-entrant circular (REC) auxetic core was proposed and its blast-resistance performance was investigated. The numerical results showed improved maximum displacement reduction and increased energy absorption compared to the conventional re-entrant (RE) core. Furthermore, reducing the thickness of the cell wall effectively improved the blast-resistance performance. The study demonstrates the potential of the re-entrant circular auxetic cored sandwich structure in blast protection applications.

Vibration analysis of auxetic laminated plate with magneto-electro-elastic face sheets subjected to blast loading

Ngo Dinh Dat et al.

Summary: This study presents a mathematical modeling and analytical approach for the nonlinear vibration analysis of a laminated plate with auxetic honeycomb core and magneto-electro-elastic face sheets. The laminate plate is subjected to blast, thermal, electric and magnetic loadings simultaneously, with mechanical properties of the auxetic core and volume fraction of the magneto-electro-elastic face sheets taken into account. By utilizing non-linear motion equations and geometrical compatibility equations, the study investigates the effect of geometrical and material parameters, elastic foundations, temperature increment, magnetic and electric potentials on the vibration characteristics of the auxetic laminated plate using Galerkin and fourth-order Runge-Kutta methods.

Free vibration analysis and optimization of doubly-curved stiffened sandwich shells with functionally graded skins and auxetic honeycomb core layer

Hoang-Anh Pham et al.

Summary: This study introduces an analytical approach for the free vibration analysis of doubly curved stiffened sandwich shells with functionally graded face sheets and an auxetic honeycomb core layer. Numerical results show that the fundamental frequency is significantly influenced by the constituent materials of the face layers, the geometrical parameters of the auxetic honeycomb core layer, and the stiffeners. A simple optimization technique based on Rao algorithms is proposed to maximize the natural frequency of the shell by adjusting parameters such as the thickness of the core and the number of stiffeners.
