Depeng Wang et al.

Summary: The simulation of human feelings, perceptions, and actions is an important application in medical treatment, human-computer interfaces, and intelligent robots. This article presents the use of a threshold-switching memristor to simulate an unconditioned reflex, achieving high current nonlinearity and flexibility. By integrating a flexible sensor and a flexible artificial muscle, an all-flexible complete reflex arc of an unconditioned reflex is formed. The threshold-switching memristor shows great potential for primary neuromorphological control and flexible intelligent medical treatment.

An internal-oxidation-based strategy induced high-density alumina in-situ nanoprecipitation and carbon nanotube interface optimization for co-reinforcing copper matrix composites

Fei Long et al.

Summary: The study presents a fabrication strategy using internal oxidation to enhance mechanical properties of copper matrix composites reinforced with carbon nanofillers, achieving a high tensile strength of 510 MPa and excellent ductility of 20.2%. The synergy of high-density gamma-Al2O3 nanoparticles and interface optimized CNTs plays a key role in the mechanical properties, based on Orowan strengthening and effective load transfer strengthening. The design concept offers a promising strategy for achieving remarkable co-strengthening effect of nanoscale dual-reinforcements in carbon nanofillers reinforced metal matrix composites.

Self-Cross-linking Nanocomposite Membranes for Green Recycling of the Solvent during Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturing

Su Kyung Kang et al.

Summary: In this study, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/carbon nanotube (CNT) composite membranes were prepared using carboxylated CNTs as alternative cross-linkers. Molecular simulation confirmed the cross-linking capability between CNTs and PVA chains, and predicted the stability of the cross-linked PVA/CNT complex in water. Experimental results showed that the treated CNTs improved the stability and separation performance of the membranes, which can contribute to the sustainability of the lithium-ion battery manufacturing industry.

Graphene oxide bulk material reinforced by heterophase platelets with multiscale interface crosslinking

Ke Chen et al.

Summary: Inspired by the heterophase structure of nacre, a centimetre-sized bulk material consisting of graphene oxide (GO) and amorphous/crystalline MnO2 nanosheets adhered together with polymer-based crosslinkers was prepared, exhibiting high flexural strength and fracture toughness. Experimental and numerical analyses revealed that the ordered heterophase structure and synergistic crosslinking interactions across multiscale interfaces contribute to the superior mechanical properties of the material.
