Heat stress regulates the expression of TPK1 gene at transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Luciana Canonero et al.

Summary: This study explores the mechanism of the response of the cAMP-PKA pathway to heat shock and thermal adaptation in yeast. The results demonstrate that heat shock leads to the assembly of TPK1 mRNA in cytoplasmic foci, and the protein level of Tpk1 significantly increases during the recovery period. The expression of TPK1 upon heat shock is dependent on the Wsc3 sensor and the CWI signaling pathway. This study reveals the specificity regulation of cAMP-PKA signaling by thermal stress.

Enhancing lifespan of budding yeast by pharmacological lowering of amino acid pools

Nathaniel L. Hepowit et al.

Summary: The increasing prevalence of age-related diseases has led to healthcare insecurity and emotional burden, necessitating novel treatment approaches. It has been shown that pharmacologically inducing a state resembling amino acid restriction can promote healthy aging by impairing sphingolipid synthesis and modulating signaling pathways. This strategy may involve inhibiting sphingolipid synthesis and modulating signaling pathways to extend lifespan.

Lipid Droplets Protect Aging Mitochondria and Thus Promote Lifespan in Yeast Cells

Melanie Kovacs et al.

Summary: In addition to storing neutral lipids and sterols, lipid droplets (LDs) are also involved in cellular detoxification. LDs interact closely with various organelles to mediate protein and lipid exchange. Increased LDs can prolong cell lifespan, reduce fragmentation and ROS production in mitochondria, serving as important regulators of aging.
