Gut microbial characteristical comparison reveals potential anti-aging function of Dubosiella newyorkensis in mice

Tian-hao Liu et al.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the potential anti-aging role of Dubosiella newyorkensis and compared its effects with resveratrol in young and old mice. The results showed that Dubosiella newyorkensis had similar anti-aging functions with resveratrol and may even be more effective in reducing oxidative stress, improving vascular endothelial function, and redistributing gut microbiota. The research provides an innovative strategy of Dubosiella newyorkensis to improve aging.

Changes in gut microbiota composition with age and correlations with gut inflammation in rats

Chen Meng et al.

Summary: This study explores the changes in gut bacteria and its relationship with gut inflammation in sexually mature rats. The findings show that bacterial richness increases with age, while bacterial diversity decreases. The dominant phyla in the gut bacteria are Firmicutes and Bacteroides, with Prevotella being the dominant genus. The relative abundance of Firmicutes increases with age, while the relative abundance of Bacteroides decreases. Ruminococcus is the only gut bacteria that participates in gut inflammation and barrier permeability regulation at both the 7th and 15th week.

Portulaca oleracea polysaccharides reduce serum lipid levels in aging rats by modulating intestinal microbiota and metabolites

Qiang Fu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of Portulaca oleracea polysaccharide (POP) on the intestinal microbiota and its metabolites in aging rats. The results showed that POPs reduced the lipid levels in the serum of aging rats and modified the composition of gut microbiota and related metabolites.

Roles of Sex Hormones and Gender in the Gut Microbiota

Kichul Yoon et al.

Summary: The distribution of gut microbiota varies by age and sex, impacting gastrointestinal diseases and being linked to sex hormone metabolism. The concept of "microgenderome" has been proposed, indicating the role of sex hormones on gut microbiota. Further research is needed to universally accept this concept.

A Mouse Model Suggests That Heart Failure and Its Common Comorbidity Sleep Fragmentation Have No Synergistic Impacts on the Gut Microbiome

Olfat Khannous-Lleiffe et al.

Summary: Heart failure and sleep fragmentation are associated with inflammation and gut microbiota dysbiosis, with mouse experiments showing distinct changes in microbiome composition for both conditions, but combined treatment does not always have a synergistic effect.

Icariin enhances youth-like features by attenuating the declined gut microbiota in the aged mice

Xiaoang Li et al.

Summary: Icariin demonstrates anti-aging effects in aged mice by improving motor coordination and learning skills, reducing oxidative stress, enhancing intestinal integrity, and upregulating aging-related signaling molecules. The study also shows that gut microbiota plays a critical role in icariin's anti-aging abilities, making it a potential medicine for the wellness of aged adults.

Age and the aging process significantly alter the small bowel microbiome

Gabriela Leite et al.

Summary: The study reveals that gut microbial diversity decreases with age, which is associated with chronological age, number of concomitant diseases, and number of medications used. The duodenal microbiome of older individuals undergoes significant changes, with specific genera showing increased relative abundance and impacting microbial diversity.
