Analytical model of a short DC glow discharge in the presence of significant radial ambipolar diffusion losses

S. Eliseev

Summary: This paper presents a simple analytical model for short direct-current glow discharge in narrow discharge tubes, taking into account the influence of radial losses of charged particles due to ambipolar diffusion. The model is based on the analytical parameterization of non-local ionization produced by fast electrons, allowing for an exact solution of the ambipolar diffusion equation with radial particle losses.

Comparative Analysis of the Parameters of the Normal and Abnormal DC Glow Discharges

S. T. Surzhikov

Summary: A comparative numerical study is conducted to compare the parameters of normal and abnormal direct current glow discharges. The study finds that abnormal discharges occur when the radius of the cathode decreases, and proposes a numerical procedure to mitigate the influence of local maxima on the solution.

Determination of organic impurities by plasma electron spectroscopy in nonlocal plasma at intermediate and high pressures

Chen Zhou et al.

Summary: This study aims to improve impurity analysis for organic molecules using plasma electron spectroscopy. Experimental results show that this method enables the detection of gas impurities in high-pressure environments, eliminating the need for expensive and cumbersome gas pumping systems and expanding the scope of the method.

Formation of inverse EDF in glow discharges with an inhomogeneous electric field

Yan Chai et al.

Summary: This study investigates the formation mechanisms of an inverse electron distribution function (EDF) in gas-discharge plasma. It is shown that in classical glow discharges, regions of EDF inversion are located in transition regions to the right and left of the positive column. The numerical simulation results reveal interesting features in the behavior of the EDF near the second reversal point of the electric field.
